EUCHARISTIC CHAPEL OF THE CHURCH "SAN PIO DA PIETRELCINA" REOPENED - a new work of art

On April 20th 2013 the Eucharistic Chapel of the church "San Pio da Pietrelcina" has been reopened to public. Walls and ceiling are now decorated with freskoes by a team of the "Aletti Centre" guided by sister Elisa Galardi, Augustinian of the Santissima Annunziata. The freskoes, explains sister Elisa, represent the Eighth Day, "the day of Eternity: men becomes Christ, as Christ became man; the day of the Eucharist, the day without time".
On the walls, on the right and on the left of the tabernacle, scenes of the Bible of the resurrection; behind the tabernacle the celestial Jerusalem and in front of it St Thomas and Jesus' side. On the ceiling tongues of fire representing the Holy Spirit and on the higher walls the Canticle of the Creatures by St Francis of Assisi. The painting technique is the buon fresco (true fresco): pigment mixed with water on a thin layer of wet, fresh plaster. www.teleradiopadrepio.it
